The Optimist Club is an association of individuals who have dedicated their time and resources to “Bring out the Best in Kids”. The Optimists are adult volunteers who conduct positive service projects in their communities aimed at providing a helping hand to youth. With their upbeat attitude, Optimist Club members help empower young people to be the best that they can be.
The Science Center was recently awarded funding from the Tuesday Noon Optimist Club for a “Mini-Makers” exhibit. The exhibit will tie into a much larger initiative the center has started with the introductions of the maker’s space. The Makers movement is a technology-based extension of do-it-yourself learning that inspires and encourages individual exploration. This movement encompasses a wide range of domains including electronics, robotics, 3-D printing, metalworking, woodworking, arts and crafts, CNC tools, digital technology, and design.
President of the Tuesday Noon Optimist Club Rich Moritz comment on the recent award ”We’re pleased to be able to support the Science Center while at the same time serve the mission of our organization to brighten the future of the youth in the community”.
