Come learn what it takes to create one form of renewable electricity and light up the night. Alliant Energy is sponsoring a special exhibit at the Cedar Rapids Science Center to teach kids how to make and power their own flashlight.
Alliant Energy both generates and distributes energy to thousands of customers in Eastern Iowa. This session will teach kids about some of the basic rules of how energy is created, especially using their own hands.
Participants in this free event will learn about Faraday’s Principle, electricity, and rare Earth magnets. Kids will also get to assemble their own flashlight to take home.
“Electricity is a valuable resource, and we think it’s important for everyone to develop a personal appreciation for what it takes to power our world,” said Jeanine Penticoff – director of energy efficiency at Alliant Energy.
The event is free for K-6th grade students. Attendees must register in advance. Learn more at crscienceceenter.org.
